It would appear to me (like you, Ash, with no knowledge of the intricacies of the dispute) that wages paid by Iluka in Sierra Leone would be but a small proportion of costs. On the surface, the easiest solution for Iluka is to resolve the issue by paying more to the workers.
Perhaps there are other forces at work. It would be good if Iluka were more forthcoming on the reasons behind the strike action.
