DFP was approved as an iron chelator indicated for treatment of transfusional iron overload caused by thalassemia syndromes when current chelation therapy is inadequate. As such DFP is much stronger than is required for chelation of labile(free) iron in Parkinsonian conditions. DFP has to be used with care to avoid serious complications. All IMHO. DYOR.
