The cost to process hardrock concentrate into lithium chemicals (Carbonate or Hydroxide) is more complex and I would guess costly than concentrating (evaporation) and purifying brine.
It takes some pretty high-grade chemicals and processing to dissolve rock to extract the lithium from the minerals.
