Skint, thanks very much for taking the time to update me via your three posts. I've been away since 30th October and have just seen your responses, which have clarified the situation for me regarding the outcome of the Imagine trial. Much appreciated! Cheers, Claydon.
Claydon, the thing to remember is the placebo in the IMAGINE trial was just a handful of patients and so easily corrupted by just one or two outliers, which it was. Now the AIBL study is an observational study with no treatment at that point of time, so in effect it was like a giant placebo numbering in the hundreds, and the dose arm of IMAGINE supposedly beat that in plaque reduction. IMO the drug worked but it was just unfortunate there were not enough funds around to run a sufficiently powered trial.
