Correct that, I just checked the website:
"Note: For non-Smart subscribers, you will still be able to access the app but data usage will be charged to your account. Alternatively, you may connect to a WiFi hotspot near you to use RoamFree."
That's quite amusing, you can use the App, but there will be data charges if you are with another carrier!
The ironic thing is that FRX use Smart as a carrier in PH, so Smart in addition to cannibalising their own roaming data revenue from their own subscibers, they would also risk losing FRX's business to another carrier.
I note the App has been out since March, and appears to be doing well. It has, however had no impact on the download rankings in PH for FRX.
I'm unsure of how important the PH market is to FRX, but I'd suggest it isn't significant.
It really highlights the strength & diversity of FRX's customer base. Having customers in 190 countries means that any single market 'shock' won't disrupt their business. I'd still see Apple SIM, Google Fi, Truphone, & eSIM as being far greater threats in the medium term.
A $30b roaming data market opportunity exists for FRX. ARR runrate just eclipsed $8m, and it is growing at a rapid clip. Plenty of room for everyone.
We are 2/3rds through the current quarter, and the downloads just keep coming! This Q last year FRX's revenue exploded leading into the busy xmas holiday period.
I'm quietly very excited at what this quarter could bring in, and have been spot on with my revenue estimates for the previous two Q's. My heart says $3m is achievable, but that's probably being a tad bullish. I'll go for $2.5m with hopefully a cash inflow of $500k.
To put things in perspective, Truphone have just raised more capital from Abromovich at a MC of ~$500m USD. They are aiming for breakeven at revenue of ~$70m.
I know they have many more strings to their bow, they have an eSIM platform and business offerrings that have outcompeted NOR, but to think that little 'ol FRX could turn a profit at 1/10th of their revenue is quite spectacular.
You did call the short term success of FRX a while back, but it looks like littlecorn got the worm. A shame there is no volume in this stock, I guess us holders will have to wait for a T/O or a dividend!
