here is a company that WAS vigorously defending and came to two separate settlements. they really didn't want to lose....and paid 5 million in court costs upon settlement....on top of probably around 10 million for the settlement. And soon they will probably be paying for another settlement. Settlements generally are cheaper than losing....and companies generally settle when the legal costs are adding up 'forever' and there is no way out of paying something.

CCV screwed their customers...and they are paying the price. I imagine they are saying they will vigorously defend because they want people to think they have done no wrong.  Settlement means no criminal conviction, because like banks , they don't like a record.
