The ALP National Preschool & Kindy Program will deliver 40 weeks of subsidised care. The only organisations receiving free funding will be government run preschools. The remainder of providers will be entitled to a subsidy. The Program for both the 3 & 4 year olds must be delivered by a university qualified early childhood teacher. This currently only applies to 4 year olds. Organisations will therefore experience an increase in their employee costs.
The funding will not start until 2021.

State governments are currently encouraging their government preschools to apply for generous grants, allowing them to increase their licensed numbers. The NSW government have stated, that they hope to offer an additional 4800 places over the next 2-3 years.

The building of all new primary schools in the future, IMO will also see the government provide state run preschools on site.
