It is not uncommon for the ATO to retrospectively seek additional information in relation to various Government grants and refunds that have been received. From my own experience, I have had to had to supply additional documentation for a Government grant that I received as well as a couple of tax refunds.

As far as KNL’s eligibility for the R&D rebates, I’m no expert on this and I wouldn’t expect our management to be either, which is why we rely on the advice of external experts. I’m sure we will hear more on this very shortly.

You are right though, if we had to repay the entire amount of both R&D rebates that would be problematic. I think that is an unlikely outcome however. As for the ‘tax fraud’ comment, I think we both know you’re just being mischievous there.
