My guess is that a thicker glass panel 50 watts, would have a thicker gel/silicone/plastic centre between the glass laminations, Im not sure exactly what the product is inside the Laminations, but thats part of the Patent so I doubt they would publicly show precicely how it works as they wouldnt want it copied.
But Id guess a thicker glass centre between the layers would be able to capture more watts, like if that center is 3 millimeters now, then possibly 5 millimeters could boost it from 30 to 50 watts.
I would guess that future tech upgrades will happen in future years for CPV.
Also 90 degrees is direct square , so is a direct hit on the glass for max yield.
When you say 90 degrees you must mean 180 degrees, or 90 degrees away from square direct.
I would expect this glass gets put in places where from morning to night its getting 45 degrees in the morning, square in the middle of the day and 45 degrees in the arvo.
There will be parts of a Highrise that gets a high yield all year, and other Parts of building that only gets a high yield for 6 months of the year. So if the cost can become comparitive to normal glass, then it will be used on masse all over the World.
To have the World wide patent on this paticular tech is a gamechanger,
The Yields could potentially be boosted to 50 watts at some point and power gained per sqm per day could be more like 6hours of 50 watts = 300 watts per day per sqm for some places. And if the cost comes down to $300 per sqm for the Glass. That makes this calculation
10,000 sqm of glass for $300 per sqm = $3 million.
300 watts per sqm x 10,000sqm = 3 megawatts a day x 365 days = 1,095,000 kwh per year x 30 years = 32,850,000 kwh x 30 year average price of $0.60c per kwh = A payback cash value of $19,710,000.ooc
Thats nearly a 20 million dollar cash value gain in power from a 3 million dollar highrise solar glass investment over 30 years.
Assuming all the above factors in my calculation are correct in the future.
But the Numbers look good, and well worth investment and well worth looking into .
