I don't hear any rational talk on how they are going to buy land away from grain production since they specify they will plant on already cleared land, read grain producing land. With most of the marginal areas of Australia carrying very generous subsoil moisture levels and wheat trading around $400/t, canola $750/t, no farmer I know will be signing up to any of these restrictive CO2 contracts. It effectively locks land away from capital gains and for many farmers this is the profit that counts when they come to sell their farm.
Mirrors and smokescreens ... it'll all come out in time. Wouldn't want to be holding the baby!
