I kind of get it I think. Comparing the SP is probably a bit like comparing the historical proportionate market cap - so subject to any significant changes to share capital, it kind of is a proxy to comparing the market cap.
Instead of having a graph of SP, you could have a graph of the market cap of the two companies (but on different scales). Looking at share price is probably just easier.
