Sums up the Peninsula pretty well but I think you got it right with quick growing. Only get down that way a couple of times a year but I'm always surprised at the relentless construction going on down there.
Yes, it's crazy down here and it's going on in every direction. My sister moved to Mt Macedon (think "Picnic at Hanging Rock") a bit over 10 years ago. She commutes to the CBD daily for work (130Km round trip). When she first moved up there the city fringe basically stopped at Keilor/Taylors Lakes with not much other than farmland out to Gisborne. Not any more. Housing estates started popping up all along the Calder Fwy and bit by bit they are going to all join up. Good news for us, we have clinics at Gisborne and Woodend (next big town after Gisborne).
