And therein lies a problem foisted on (gullible) consumers by the supermarkets: ie, cheap = good and quantity = quality. Whether it be $2 milk, home branded 'stuff' sourced from countries with dubious hygiene and food standards, or from multinational food & beverage cos screwing their employees and competitors, we have seen Australian produced goods relegated to mostly the more discerning shopping baskets where quality is the primary choice. And an ever increasing number of Australians with obesity and its related health problems. Have a squiz at the weekly supermarket catalogue specials which are infested with high fat & sugar content processed 'foods' (the word foodstuff comes to mind here), 1/2 priced confectionery or buy one get one free tosh.
Thus endeth the rant for today...enjoy it and think twice next time you're tempted to select "Cheap".
