Benson- you can't make an autonomous vehicle 'intelligent' now or in the future!
the amount of information and perception by a 'human' driver can't be replicated by a computer regardless of the size of the computer.
in other words, the legal implications involving a possible accident and who is to blame, are the stumbling blocks, and will never be solved certainly in your lifetime!
ps- the only way they might solve this dilemma is with Quantum physics, but that is years away at best.
maybe best to just stick with trams, if you are not comfortable with propelling an automobile.
