The problem with that attitude, with respect, is that all it does is allows this sort of egregious abuse of the rights of the owners of the business, to be perpetuated.

You should do what I have done, that is, written to the Chairman to register your strongest protest at this selective treatment of shareholders. Or, at a bare minimum, lobbed in a call to the company.

I will also be attending the AGM to advise the chairman that, as an owner of this business, I expect the people who work for me - and for my fellow business owners - to act in our best interests.

And given that the chairman has demonstrably not done so in this case, that I no longer wish for him to serve the company, and that he should tender his resignation as soon as is practicably possible.
