SIMCO SpA (hereinafter and indistinctly "SIMCO" or "the Owner"), submits to evaluation the Environmental Impact Study of the Project called "Maricunga Sales Production" (hereinafter, "the Project"), which includes the exploitation of fresh brine from the north-east sector of the Salar de Maricunga, at an extraction rate of 275 L / s; the brines are processed by the method of solar evaporation and subsequent precipitation in a lithium carbonate plant for the production of 5,700 t / year, and, by solvent extraction, 9,100 t / year of lithium hydroxide (equivalent to 14,300 t / year of lithium carbonate), also adding 38,900 t / year of potassium chloride as a by-product. The waste brines from the solvent extraction process - poor lithium - will be returned to the Salar de Maricunga through reinjection wells.
