Are you suggesting that before the CSIRO or any company commercialising developments in material science has to test the material for use in the context of EVERY potential usage before offering it commercially ?

To give an example of why that is a little ludicrous: when BHP started steel production in Australia (1915), did they do nothing but test every possible steel composition blend in every target industry before selling steel to the market ..... no, they didn't .... or they'd still be testing now and not selling steel ! Did they test the basics of what was possible, produce general products with known requirements (rod and bar, billet etc) and then augment that knowledge with more specific testing when customers identified a specific need/niche that needed filling ? YES !

Materials testing for in context manufacture is pretty standard practice. Even if general data exists, it is just good practice to test it in specific contexts for confidence.

And from what I've read, majors are interested in this tech ..... but for some strange reason Titomic are not disclosing negotiations before they are complete (I think they call that prudent).

    Cheers....
