I attended the NTI presentation last week and was most impressed with Wolfgang and Dr Carrick.

Dr Carrick explained he has no commercial interest in the success of Neurotech ( and never will have ) but made it quite clear that he thinks that the Mente Autism device is a game changer. He is only interested in the ethics and morals of autism treatment and supports and is impressed with the the company's approach. There is nothing in the market that comes close to the beneficial effects of the device and he is one of the foremost experts on autism.

He mentioned that of the drugs on the market 80% are a waste of space and the other 20% have serious side effects.

I asked him what happens when the child reaches 13 and he said he was confident that the device could be used for the childs whole life. There is no reason it won't work on an adult. There just hasn't been any proper trials although a couple of late stage teenagers did participate in his trial and they enjoyed the same benefits.

The company is pressing on with obtaining reimbursement entitlements in each country which all have different approval paths to navigate.

Dr Carrick is also confident that the mente autism device would be equally successful with a whole host of neurological disorders which he says are much bigger markets. Its a pity that the company is not well capitalised enough to have a go at the whole gamut of disorders. But maybe once they are up and running (which shouldn't be very long now ) and have commercial traction they will be able to raise sufficient funds at much higher prices to have a crack.
