NST won't want to lose its 'gold producer' status, which adds a small premium to their share price.
As for the reporter and the 'almost' full room, he/she was just trying to make the article interesting to read. I remember someone turned up a bit late and stood at the back of the room. In my opinion they would have done better to make the company's value discount the main focus of the article.
