it's the Murchinson Widefield Array (MWA) not the Square Kilometer Array (SKA). The MWA is set up out in the middle of the desert, major problem with any radio astronomy installation is radio frequency interference (RFI). MWA can monitor stuff overhead but it probably isn't ideal for locations closer to population centres where RFI becomes a much larger problem. You're also limited by the the wavelength of radio emission being collected, longer wavelengths mean poorer resolution. An optical monitoring system can reach much higher resolution and is also less affected by proximity to population centres.
It could definitely be a competitor in the future but to suggest that the whole EOS space operation needs to be thrown out is a bit daft.
