But this is all pie-in-the-sky stuff. VW don’t know if the technology will work. Obviously they hope it will, but Bosch have given up on a similar project. Batteries aren’t silicon chips, just saying everything will get cheaper because it’s like mobile phones is a long way from reality. And $100m is peanuts to VW. I don’t know where you got $39bn from ......

Throwing bucket loads of money at a project doesn’t mean anything, certainly no guarantee of success. How much has been spent on nuclear fusion? Far more than $39bn even, with only glimmers of a hint of a possible avenue so far.

Cost parity with ICE as I’ve already shown is nowhere near close. Leaf 2.7 times the price of Micra. Leaf needs a $10,000 new fuel tank after 8 to 10 years.

Forget about a global energy policy. Bureaucracy at a global level won’t achieve anything except vast expenditure and energy wastage on a gravy train for the benefits of the bureaucrats. We see that with global warming. If you want to change things, start at the local level. Get your local council to change regulations about private water storage and sewage disposal. Campaign for the abolition of rego, pushing the tax recovery onto fuels instead. Ban the use of fluorescent lights, highly toxic, inefficient and vastly shorter lives than the old incandescent ones. Encourage the use of local economies (by removing regulations on small businesses) reducing the need for so much interstate transport. Boost working from home by removing state and council restrictions so less commuting required.
