10 good years left? err I think Guys Phersons latest prediction is the average person will face extinction by northern summer 2019.

When I first saw Guy I thought he was an eccentric crackpot. But...

His dire predictions are based on a blue arctic event, ie the white ice currently reflecting 90% of sunlight absorbs the same amount instead. The resulting thermal imbalance creates heatwaves that result in crop failures on a massive worldwide scale. And far from being fetched,  the arctic ice has indeed this year, for the first time in modern mans history, thinned to just 2 metres. To boot,  the current co2 level in the arctic as measured this morning is 426 PPM, a heat trapping lens able to melt the reminder...

an astonishing increase of 5% in Co2 levels in just 3 years. An rise of this magnitude only occurs in one of the 30 or catastrophic volcanic episodes or meteor strike events that take the planet thousands of years to recover from. So yes, we can see the arctic greenhouse lens is indeed rapidly melting the now precariously thin ice and heating the carbon rich permafrost that is out-gassing ever more greenhouse gas. Then down in the antarctic the tighter summer westerlies are powering a circulation pump that is sucking both deep oceanic carbon reserves along with heat to the surface, turbocharging the summer melt there too, 3 trillion tonnes in 25 years and rapidly accelerating.

But where is the crop failure?  Indeed, right now northern Europe, the Korean peninsula and even NSW (99% drought declared) etc, crops are wilting as I write.

So far from Guy being a doomsday-er, he may well be telling it as it is.

So with the inconvenient truth of a dire dystopian reality that appears to be rapidly unfolding right now on our reef, and drought stricken parched lands and parched forests beginning to burn, what to do? Lets play the devils advocate....

Investment:  the reality of sea level rise will knock trillions off the value of low lying land. Trillions will be wiped off the value of fossil fuel assets, coal, fracked and convention gas, oil, will all be regarded for what they are, planetary carbon poison converted to 70% heat trapping Co2 when burnt. Governments will block food exports and go hunting for foreign sources. War. Economic Armageddon. Invest in gold? FDR banned gold trading in the depression and through WWII, in fact citizens had to hand it in to prop up the value of cash. will history repeat - probably. So with supermarket shelves stripped bare, suddenly food is the new and only currency that has any value?

Self preservation/prepping: Can you imagine the hell on earth in the USA if so many people have guns but not food? The lawless days of the wild west would be looking like a Sunday school picnic, those with wealth would use it to guard enclaves but even then hoarded food reserves would quickly dwindle or make them targets. People with guns but empty stomachs have nothing to lose.

Central asia, Europe, Russia, North america India, Bangladesh, the entire middle east, 4 billion + people either beginning to feel the blowtorch and or the extra amount of moisture the warmer atmosphere can dump on them or as in Japan, both at he same time.

So far from being a nutters, Markjohn  and Jackoknows, with your compound bows, self sufficient sources of food and water etc, suddenly you look like creating a sage hedge given the rapidly unfolding events that are exponentially unfolding around us at a breathtaking pace - heralding the "new normal" the way things are shaping up
