I Understand where you are coming from. Equally I understand why it would be couched in this way.
There will be some who will use the passing on as a cynical excuse to undermine the capabilities of the team going forward.
I think the intent is to move away from personalities and focus the future.
At the same time no disrespecting those who made this happen.
