Key work being process - which has rules, criteria etc. What you mentioned - yes costly only if you allow those conditions to exist, and by that I mean you test and retest your code and make sure its running correctly. Of course the experience you have as a trader means you think about how to handle black swans which, affect manual traders regardless.
