Don't assume something is wrong because you don't understand it...your comments suggest that you don't. For example "All other companies using cost method increased profits by $0." is a factually incorrect statement. You just appear not to understand the mechanics of amortised cost (or the difference in earnings emergence to FV for that matter). That said I don't hold PNC these days as I made my money and redeployed capital as felt at a certain price I had better use for my capital.
