If the neighbors do buy the SA assets, will it be a takeover offer or will they just pay cash. Far East Capital valued the SA assets at around $50 Million a few years ago but probably worth a bit more now. The board at West Wits need to ensure they invest in other gold projects around the world to ensure it is not a full takeover. A few years ago I remember a poster on HC stating that if they did sell the SA assets, most of the funds would be returned to shareholders as a possible fully franked dividend / capital return to shareholders.
