so immergy went into insolvency
- Traditionally Vanadium is produced as a byproduct of iron
if iron prices drop, steel production drops leading to vanadium shortage
- Also vanadium production as a byproduct is environmentally unsafe so China bans import of steel slag
this also contributed in vanadium price increase
- China introduced a law to use damascus steel in steel rebar to make earthquake proof buildings raising demand for vanadium
- Despite failures of Sunedison and imergy, VRBs are getting popular as a strong grid storage option
- Because of aforementioned environmental reasons, vanadium would be preferred from mainly vanadium producing mines rather than from steel byproduct
