Unfortunately I completely agree with you. There's always an element of risk in any investment, especially at this end of the market, but I made the obviously incorrect assumption that ASX listing rules and ASIC enforcement meant that company announcements would actually be truthful. Hence when GPP announce they are about to 'disrupt' the fertilizer industry, they are knocking back partner offers from everywhere (including internationally), blah blah blah, I foolishly assumed they were telling the truth.
