My thoughts? you ask; most of them I can't share because lawyers with writs would be lining up at my door, however, some I can share:-
I can't comment about the 249D as I have no knowledge of it or the RMs ( contrary to the imputation of some flog, can't remember which one) but one would think that it would be re-issued if the 249 originators had any trace of fortitude/tenacity, time will tell.
I have mixed thoughts on the acquisition -
The new MDs track record is highly unimpressive, but no major bumps that I could find, but certainly no gold stars that I could find. Perhaps @cfp could update that aspect because he knows a lot about gold stars. He is also the MD and probably the founder of Min Intelligence ( together with Joe Treacy) which is the second hand dealer that brokered the deal to GPP. Now he will be the new MD at GPP, has he come here for the free donuts for 2 to 5 yrs or his he a real believer with a sound understanding of the new project. I have NFI.
On a positive note - GK has stepped aside but he will be still lurking at the table.
More red flags I have:-
GPP carries all the risk a la GSM and free donuts
Dilution
Funds "allocated" for OHD and Kopang used up for Ion project
Rock chips are often used as bait - ( if Cobalt rock chips so spectacular why give it away?) the drill will talk, if ever the drill spins here
GPP has a track record of bad habits and skeletons in the closet (well documented on this forum)
Overall I am very suspicious of this move, I hope I am proved wrong. btw the last time I was wrong was about 50 years ago (not counting buying into GPP.)
footnote: has SOP gone to the cemetery?
