Column 1 0 Market Trend of Import of Ferroalloy as of 29 June 2018 1 = Price of manganese ore rises, which gives push to anticipation of high prices of Mn-containing ferroalloys =[/B]
<> Ferro-silicon =
The offer prices for export vary widely, and the difference between tops and bottoms is big. As a whole, it seems that the contract price for a small lot can be cheap and the one for a large lot can be high. Besides, as there is a case where the additional duty collection occurred as a result of reviews on the calculations of the past export duties conducted by the customs, and therefore some of the producers are negative in exporting the products.
There is no big change in the demand in the Japanese domestic market, but the contract price is pushed up by increased prices in China, and up by US$40 - US$55 from the middle of June, but did not return to the same level as the one at the end of May.
As to Malaysian ferro-silicon, the producers (OM Sarawak and Pertama Ferroalloys) focus on the production of long-term contracts, and no contract for spot goods meant for Japan as July to August shipments was made.
<> Silico Manganese =
As to the price of manganese ore meant for China as July shipment, both prices of Gabonese manganese ore to be supplied by Eramet Comilog and Australian manganese ore to be supplied by South32 are up from the prior month. The port stock of imported manganese ore in China is a generous amount of about 2.7 million tons, but the retail price also continues rising.
The price of silico manganese in China continued rising. As a result of the fact that Shizuishan in Ningxia worked on the countermeasures against polluting companies, the operation of ore roasting furnaces with a capacity being less than 20,000 KVA (a total of 16 companies) was suspended, and 9 silico manganese producers are forecast to cut back production (equivalent to 30,000 tons monthly). Besides, as the recovery in production in Inner Mongolia also gets delayed, the tight sense in the supply is anticipated to continue for the time being. In China, multiple steel mills offered a purchase price for July delivery in the past few days, but the offered prices are seen to be a little higher than the market price. The current price of Inner Mongolian product 6517 is CNY8,100 - CNY8,300 per ton, up by CNY800 from the end of May, and there is an anticipation of a price hike in the market. No contract meant for Japan was made this time, either.
The price of Indian silico manganese also continues rising. The producers in India generally raised the offer price due to an increased price of imported manganese ore. Partly because the cheap products got scarce, the level of the contract price was raised, but many of the trading firms are reluctant to accept a high offer price and a price hike stays at a small range.
The price hike in the production area spread also in the Japanese domestic market, and the current contract price is up by US$20 - US$60 from the end of May.
As to Malaysian silico manganese, OM Sarawak and Pertama Ferroalloys Sdn. Bhd. are producing, and the price seems to be at the same level as Indian products.
