The development of farming and rise of civilisations occurred within a 10,000-year window of unusually stable environmental conditions. Those stable inter-glacial conditions are over. Human actions are driving Earth to a hot new super-inter-glacial state. What scientists call the Anthropocene epoch, this unstable time, is a new chapter of history. Today’s global heatwave is a forewarning of far worse to come. To live well in this new world needs political action to catch up with this changing reality. Fast.

The reality is that just as stock markets correct back to sustainable valuations when they become excessive, so do the planets self regulatory systems. We are soon to experience both simultaneously as fossil as trillions are wiped off the value of fossil fuel co's and waterfront properties simultaneously as its realised its suicidal to burn the former and the latter is worthless underwater in the inevitable rapidly intensifying storm surges. Trillions wiped off the face of the worlds financial systems when it has failed to recover from the GFC with the world awash with un-repayable debt that is effectively worthless.

For it is unfolding that mankind, by re-gassifying ancient fossilised carbon, buried to enable an ideal average temperature for life, appears to have pressed the reset button. Nature is now clearing the decks creating the planets 6th major extinction event just like humans go into a feverish state to rid itself of a virus. Now the planets immune system has kicked in, adding to the carbon in the burning of the boreal forest adding a further pulse of Co2 further intensifying the arctic lens. We can also observe that as a consequence it has already sent the polar vortex from a tight circle that held in the cold and excluded the heat into a weak meandering jet stream. Thus allowing extreme freezing and heatwaves to ravage Asia, Europe and North America. This stage is now the new reality.

Next the heat generated by the Co2 lens created by the likes if Canadian Tar sands mining and US fracking is causing the Boreal forest fires raging in a ring right under the Arctic circle. The melted ice no longer reflects sunlight back into space and the dark ocean absorbs it. Both land and oceanic permafrost containing frozen methane starts melting creating the likes of Yamal peninsula pingos.

Frozen ethane expands and explosive 60x on melting. It is estimated 100,000 have formed either above and below the ocean in and around the arctic circle since 2004. Additionally both oceanic and lake methane bubbling is increasing markedly. As it feeds off itself the release of this potent greenhouse gas right under the arctic dome will accelerate rapidly releasing a trillion tonnes of the stuff triggering runaway global warming as the = Co2 levels zoom up from 400 to 800 ppm. we can tell this is underway as the record 400ppm milestone recorded a mere 3 years ago has already hit 415 today, the thin edge of exponential increase.

"The UN Secretary General António Guterres has called on nations to accelerate efforts to tackle climate change, warning in the UN Climate Change secretariat's annual report that time is running out to avert dangerous global warming."

So yes, with world leadership just dogs barking as the global warming genie leaps out of the arctic bottle, you would be far better to call the Thunderbirds rather than them. And maybe also invest in solar stocks, short the market, invest in gold and stock up the larder with canned foods.
