Bid rumours put focus on Sylvania

Sylvania Resources, which extracts platinum from dumped ore, was in focus late yesterday. Its shares, which are also listed on the Australian Securities Exchange, advanced 3.7 per cent to 142p on bid rumours. Traders said the word in the market was that Sylvania had received takeover approaches from a blue chip mining company and a management buy-out team. Sylvania's market capitalisation is £242m.
