I have no problem with free shares and or options being issued as long as they are performance based and issued to high end executive members only and not just as one pleases.
There never seems to be an end to these Appendix B announcements
Free issue shares and options , should be incentive based and issued in tranches ,whereby the higher achievements and the longer they stay , the more they gain and only to senior executives, once they achieve nominated targets. These targets should be made public to all shareholders .These guys get paid well upfront and should not expect freebies unless they warrant them . Non executive and contractors should be by way of salary or contract fee - and if they perform beyond expectations they should be rewarded with bonus of a monetary value NOT shares , which dilute shareholders that have outlaid their own money .
Further, I have no problem in an executive selling their shares , if they have paid for them ( as did Tom ) or have earned them as an incentive which is transparent and part of a pre announced scheme, they are just like any other shareholder and have a right to trade their shares as they please , subject to normal reporting and lock out periods.
My beef is solely with non performance based shares being issued to non performing staff- prove your worth then be rewarded ,don't expect upfront.- , just like private enterprise.
