Google Maps pricing up by 30 x
My question is, will Nearmap be paying google through the nose for the continued integration of Google Maps/Streetview into its user interface, and will this increase be tangible. $1,000/month to $30,000/month is still only $360,000/yr is a substantial cost, but not significant. However $10,000/month to $300,000/month is $3.6m/yr - that's significant.
Metlink in NZ will have large numbers of users but not critical to its customers, but Nearmap has low numbers of users but the google mapping product is critical to its client base.
I have no idea how much Nearmap would expect to pay for Google Maps services, nor whether Google can legally gouge Nearmap because of its integral nature of Google's product to Nearmaps offering.
This is not scaremongering, but a legit question from a point of ignorance. Can anyone offer clarity.
