Having built and developed projects in Africa for major publicly listed companies for the best part of 10 years; there are usually only two outcomes; the first quick and the second takes years ... I started a project in Ghana for Newmont in 2006 that was delayed by government approvals and permitting for 6 years ... we also had a project held up in Zambia for 2 years ... Africa is Africa and there is no motivation to move things forward unless it is around election time and the politicians need to bank some promises on jobs and rural development ...

My view is move the MD on and get someone fresh and new to reignite the process instead of being led around like donkeys with a carrot on a stick ... the MD has exhausted his welcome and continuous life lines of hope ... it is the boy who cried wolf epitomised ... he obviously doesn’t know it is just a game of dinners and functions now with no real intent to move things forward as the he is not seated at the table with the decision makers but rather the road blocking gate keepers ...
