One thing I've learnt about the Chinese when doing business, nothing is ever done on a whim.
Every decision is calculated.

If Charles has decided to transfer his shares into a direct holding, he has done so for a specific reason, and obviously one that is more important than spreading his holding around to minimise tax.

One more thing. That shareholder (let's call him Batman) who I reported was a little firey at the AGM, asked all the board members whether any of them had been in discussions about a takeover. All of them said no, but one of them was reluctant to answer straight away and when he did, would not look the shareholder in the eye.
