I can't see the fact they only have an MER of 0.17% as some kind of justification for this dilutory issue, especially given it will cost them more than $5M in fees. If it was, then the MER in terms of its real effect would be more like 2.5%. Given the fairly conservative portfolio and the high weighting to holding so called blue chips for the long term, there is no justification for anything other than a very low MER.
They are an uninspiring lot.
