The way I see it, is that CCE now has the most versatile platform in the business.
They know in theory and practice how this platform will react in just about every sea condition in which it is likely to operate.
They have the expertise and experience of deploying and recovering large submerged buoys through their experience with Ceto 5.
Several years ago I suggested WITT as a possibility.
In theory, a multi tethered buoy sitting just below the surface, would be the ideal environment in which it could operate. Moving from a single tether to multiple tethers, brings many different forces into play, thereby creating that chaotic environment in which WITT thrives.
The question is, has WITT been able to upscale their device big enough? I think the biggest they have built so far is 200W.
"Our MARINE WITT is for buoys and anything floating on or under the sea surface where power is required. No existing technology provides a consensus choice. A sealed WITT is resistant to harsh sea environment, a ‘ fit & forget’ solution. The MARINE WITT will harvest power from surge & pitch, sway & roll, with NO SHOCK LOAD. This offers twice the capacity for wave power conversion than other devices."

I think the main point now though, is that we have a platform capable of carrying many different types of PTO.
It is now up to the PTO companies to decide whether their technology is suited to Ceto 6 and whether or not to come along for the ride.
