Fair enough?! Fair enough would be making that decision 18 months ago. Not screwing the company around for years with unclear, disorganised & misleading approvals process.

Compared to other mining activites underground mining with above ground salt storage is well in the low risk. Miles less risky & miles less environmental damage than tailings dams, acid heavy processes, evaporation ponds, open cut pits, low grade deposits with huuuge volume of solid tailings.

If Spain can't find a reasonable balance, then their economic woes will continue in perpetuity. If this project was in Australia, USA, Canada or Brazil where governments & the people still care about the environment it would have been approved already. With an EIS, regulatory checks, environmental management & remediation plans in place. Those countries value economic development, social development, food security as well as the environment.

Spain seems to be dis-organised, contradictory and difficult. Hardly a low geopolitical risk. Sorry Spain but as an investor and an engineer I will avoid funding, working on and being involved with Spanish projects. I can go elsewhere for balanced, profitable and responsible projects.
