Frank Holmes, CEO and Chief Investment Officer of the US-Global Gold Fund, sees commodities as a strong buy signal. He literally speaks of a "once-in-a-lifetime" moment for investors. He argues that gold could rise to $ 1,500 this year due to rising consumer and producer prices.
Official inflation rates are an understatement for Holmes, especially when comparing the official US consumer price index (CPI) and alternative measures such as the New York Fed Underlying Inflation Gauge (UIG). According to Ed Yardeni, the word "inflation" occurred 106 times during the last meeting of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC). Apparently, Fed members are increasingly worried about rising inflationary pressures.
