The ATR rises: from 60 to 240 employees
The group bought after bankruptcy has now committed with major car manufacturers and in the aeronautics sector

COLONNELLA. When in December two years ago the ATR became the property of Valter Proietti , few would have bet on the future of the Colonnella boulders factory.
The group specializing in carbon production was at the mercy of fierce battles to the sound of branded paper since 2008 when the bankruptcy court Teramo decreed the bankruptcy of five companies in the group owned by Umberto Pierantozzi , starting with the leader Atr srl. Sentence revoked in the appeal, for which the ATR was admitted to the extraordinary administration in 2009. Up to the further overturning by the Supreme Court in 2013, which resumed bankruptcy.
A situation of uncertainty that did not bode well when the new company Atr group (originally Proietti was in company with Primo Massi but then bought if its shares) took over the business by sharing with 60 workers. A tenth of the employees that the ATR had in 2008. Instead now the ATR has reached 240 employees, and other assumptions are coming. «It was given for dead and is now the only expanding manufacturing company in the province», underlines Antonio Liberatoriby Fim Cisl, "carbon is an important component in the automotive, aeronautics and furniture sectors. And the ATR has the know-how, experience and cutting-edge technology in this production. The orders and the level of employment increase with prudent management. And on the basis of new projects new hires are planned ". At the moment the ATR works a lot in the automotive industry for the main racing car brands, from Ferrari to Toro rosso to Dallara, but also Peugeot, Bmw and Toyota. But the ATR also aims to the aerospace sector, "dusting off" some old projects of collaboration with Alenia for the production of Boeing. «But we will also go to the construction of two planes of the South Oma (a company of aircraft design and aeronautical constructions owned by Proietti), the Sky car and the Red bird which have good carbon components that will be made in Colonnella. In addition there are contracts with Sukhoi, the Russian company, to make doorways, "adds Liberatori, who underlines how FIM has always believed in a recovery. For now, three sheds of the original 9 have been reactivated, but maybe someone else will be reopened in the future.
The important thing is that 240 jobs have been created "almost all the assumptions have been made in the basin of the former Atr workers", Liberatori points out. "The wish", adds Giampiero Dozzi , secretary of Fiom Cgil in this regard, "is that the company applies the social clause, even if the agreement has expired and that it hires former employees. There are some workers who have been out of work for two years and who are unemployed and without compensation ".
Dozzi also talks about the improvement of the transfer plan from the court to the Atr group srl: in the last two years the situation has changed and, for example, the company has bought the plants from leases. "We trust that everything is done to ensure continuity, but it is a point that must be consolidated. We hope for a strengthening policy with well-defined industrial choices that can guarantee further opportunities, such as research into new materials and new carbon applications. We hope that the Abruzzo Region will realize the potential of this company: we need a specific project, with the involvement of the university ".
