I hate to tell you mate but it's difficult to predict a) when it's going to rain, the weather bureau can't even get it right at times and b) it's extremely difficult to predict if or when you're going to cop the remnants of a cyclone.
Judging by the look of that rainfall chart that is exactly what has occurred.
But hey you've never let a little thing like facts get in the way of a good story.
