Upon re-reading my post, you are indeed correct - there is a negative undertone, which is, for the most part unintended and perhaps also unfair. My apologies.

Truth is , I am more saddened by either VMT's continued run of bad luck or bad timing, that, and being $100K out of pocket.

Just for historical correctness, Vmoto initially started out as a producer of retro replica scooters modeled on the 1960's Vespas. They were all low tech and powered by two stroke engines. The move to becoming an all electric manufacturer occurred sometime around 2010..ish (?) I cant remember exactly, but it was soon after the Vietnam debacle and they had run out of any goodwill from customers and dealers of their petrol engine scooters.

Does oil price affect sales ?
I don't believe it does. for example, I have a Piaggio Fly 150 cc four stroke scooter which does around 2.5 L/100km and has a 180 km range and a useful top speed of 90 kph and importantly, it takes about 5 minutes to refuel. With that frugal fuel consumption, I wouldn't blink an eyelid if petrol was at $5.00 a litre. This is what all E-scooters have to compete against.

The down fall of all electric vehicles, both 4 and 2 wheels is limited range and the deal breaking ultra long "refuel" times.

For fleet operators like delivery services, the long refuel times can be mitigated by having battery swap strategies in place and there is no doubt they can be made to work well in that environment for the dedicated green minded operator.

As I said before, the mass appeal for E-scooters for individual owners depends entirely on public policy making them worthwhile having despite their performance and range shortcomings. Cyclists have successfully lobbied strongly for bike lanes, clean green E-scooters should be next in line for preferential treatment. To end on a positive note, I think we are inching closer to this happy state.
Vmoto was well ahead of the times and too far ahead of the E-scooter wave. Let's just hope it doesn't get swamped by one of the big breakers of established mainline manufacturers when that wave finally catches up with us.
