From memory the reason that AACo built the abattoir was in reaction to the then government ban on live
cattle exports in 2011, after the 4corners report.

In hindsight building and running this now appears to be a huge financial mistake for AACo

The reason is because the actual figures are kept hidden and nothing is said about it, except that
the running needs to be more efficient, and they are working on it, this only says one thing to me
and that is as you said it is bleeding money....the big question is how much money, is it a couple
of million a year or 10's of million a year, we as shareholders should know that answer

Seeing as this was brought about by a now reversed government ban, if this is really bleeding
a lot of cash, then some of that blood should be on the governments hands as well

From my understanding, the cattle going through the plant are not all our own cattle, in fact
we buy cattle (at what appears to be a loss) to slaughter and sell as hamburger mince mainly for export

Our luxury and premium cattle don't go through this plant, but get butchered by third parties

Is this plant able to be converted to suit the slaughter of our own luxury or premium cattle?

If the answer to that question is 'no', and it does lose say more than 5million a year, then its
future really does come into question as a part of AACo IMO

Why cant they be upfront with the figures, instead of trying to hide them from the owners of the company!

    cheers grant
