One thing that the Wits 2.0 experience has shown us is the need to use unconventional methods to explore unconventional deposits. When drilling proved unsuccessful at Purdy's Reward due to the nuggety nature of gold mineralisation, Novo announced that bulk sampling was the 'best practical means of evaluating grade and potential viability of the deposit'. Investors appeared to accept the premise of the idea of Bulk Sampling.
BBX will be able to drill out its deposit to achieve a gold resource but in the meantime its been able to utilise bulk samples to gauge the grade of the mineralised gabbro at surface. The approach by Novo at Purdy's appears to me to lend credibility to the exploration methods being used by BBX in evaluating the potential viability of the deposits at Tres Estados and Ema.
I have no background in geology so would welcome other insights into the usefulness of bulk sampling methods.
