I didn't post because of a sad story - is kept there by my desk as a reminder of buying in at the right price, and the benefits of time. And the doubling every 4 years (averaged, not real) was as a comparison to rule of 72. Didn't know about the consolidation, thanks. Also that some mines have significant longevity and potential profits. I bought in to HGO relatively recently because of Gary Weiss connection, starting at about 0.068, but only small volumes avaialable then, so had to accumulate slowly.
PNR I also started buying at 0.06, and it has gone very well over the past couple of years or so. Been fairly static for past 6-12 months, but with some nice fairly predictable swings, 18->15-> 18->15 ->22->18->25->20, and now 18->22->28 over past 1-2 months.
PNR may yet be another SMB. who knows, and so might even one day be HGO. Depending upon long term resource definition. And on HGO management!! And whether they start and maintain paying a dividend, with their extra cash, which I think will hold and push up the SP as well as giving a nice return for a 3c or even an 8c investment! I bought SBM last year because of all the extra cash being generated but sold out too soon before market had seen this potential and bought in. I'll be interested to see what SBM div yield will be on $2.70 over next few years.
Even more interesting will be to see what div yield is likely over next year or two for HGO on 8c or even on price of 10c. I wonder if the "antagonistic SH" don't want too much money spent on drilling etc at present, and starting mining underground any time soon, because they want and are demanding their money back fairly soon, at say 9c, giving themselves 300% return, and then announcing a nice div or two to push SP up, as well as decent demand and buyers for their 30%. Might be a 2 year hold and then review.
Looks like someone is trying to push the SP down at present, imo.
Maybe a message for small cap SH is that what is pretty obvious to us, with our more intimate and detailed knowledge of a particular company, still takes the market (big players) many months to appreciate and revalue. And that we need to hold for a lot longer than we initially thought to realise anticipated returns and SP gains!
