When I mean the market is saturated - I mean that the amount of suppliers that are cable of doing microgrid designs is vast, this is a very competitive space vs wave. There were over a hundred tenders for SA 100MW battery, that Tesla won. While the capabilities of individual companies may not be like EMC and others, it wouldn't take that long to get a team together to produce a product and when you look at companies combining on JV's the ramp up time may be even faster, leading to greater competition. Hopefully for CCE's sake EMC can stay ahead of the pack and become one of the premiere companies in Australia and the rest of the world via lend lease JV (or standalone). Being a leading company in WA may not be enough.

As a wave company Carnegie Wave Energy was in a small pool of companies and competition was limited. They have managed to keep in front of some of the other companies who's fallen by the wayside and hopefully they keep at the forefront. Considering EMC is a whole owned subsidiary CCE should still be doing stuff on wave as that is their focus. Hopefully they'll be finalising details and getting ready to order some of the long lead items and the get units scheduled for construction (where ever they are made). I can't remember the timeframe prior to ceto 5 at Garden Island, i.e. when units appeared and how long it was prior that orders were placed (were we even told). I suspect will start seeing things happen mid 2018 with regards to orders etc. considering it needs to be in the water and commission for an opening in late 2019.

Testing of ceto6 in Garden Island is questionable as the devices are a lot larger (maybe draught is suitable). The depth of water and anchor locations may not suit (although they may have anticipated this prior to ceto5 install). Also with logistic cost it might pay to take a device straight to albany rather than drop it at henderson then move later. It would be good if they build local for the prohjects so they can help the local manufacturing industry, however is suspect it will go to lowest bidder.

CCE website has some update for some of their projects. And Arena website needs an update of ceto6 from Gi to Albany.
