Class Action - Carnival Cruises

I done 13 cruises with Princess Cruise and never got the Norovirus.

The last cruise that I did was NG cruise and the media carried on about 90 passengers out of nearly 2000 coming down with the norovirus bug.

Most off the problem is unhygienic passengers and not the meticulous cleaning off the surroundings and cabins, or the cleanliness of the staff.

Many passengers lie about their health status on the pre-embarking documents. If the cruise is predominately around Australia or NZ many elderly don’t have travel insurance. They take the gamble to control the on-board American medical expenses by being off-loaded at the next port off call.

The last outbreak of Norovirus highlighted recently in the media was a NZ cruise - 8 to 10 day incubation

I reckon someone got on the ship with this bug prior to its departure from Bris. with people having to fly home from Auckland after 3 days would suggest that.

From my experience cruising on the Sea and the Sun the clientele is generally retirees who should know better about hygiene. They behave badly by pinching stuff and don’t hand in lost items etc. Retirees with mobility issue are the worst behaved mainly by being demanding such as going on-shore, even if they are told about unsuitablity of the landing site.

I’ve seen people not washing their hands after going to the toilet or not using the sanitizer going to the dining room or the buffet area.

The only criticism that I have about staff is not enforcing the dress code and not being forceful if people refuse to use the sanitizer by directing them to go back to ther cabins and order a free meal over the phone.

Many don’t bother to cover their mouths when coughing in the lifts etc.

People refuse to stay in their cabins if instructed to go into isolation by medical staff - maybe their isolation should be in the brig.

From my experience on cruising with Princess, it is usually the people who frequent the buffet dining room that come down with this bug.

I would be prepared to support Carnival over this issue and I having nothing to gain by taking this stance.
