The investment scenario for bitcoin now is probably for 'johnny come lately' retail mugs.

However there are plenty that can take its place in the future with better transaction technology. I believe Hashtree is another alternate route to Blockchain and you already see Bitcoin being 'coined' as the store of wealth while Bitcoin cash, Ripple and the likes as the currency for transaction for goods and services.

My superficial thought is that those who have a holding ownership of physical held in the mass vaults could spin out BitGold which would then be the equivalent of gold back currency as alternate transaction source existing in parallel to fiat mighty USD instead of the hope of replacing it.

Whether we like it or not there is a place for crypto in today's investment options and I watch with interest but skepticism to its future. This could be the dotcom euphoria or it could last for much longer since the US markets were supposedly due for a crash/deep correction in its 10 year bull run. If you ask me I think the next phase of the bull run has just commenced with Trump fiscal stimulus now approved by Congress. I much prefer a bull market as it is much easier to make money regardless if I am skillful or not. Ideally equity and gold bull market so everyone is happy.
