    Central Coast, 9 November 2007

Two technology industry veterans will today open the doors to the first-ever Commander Centre on the Central Coast to provide local small businesses across the region with specialised IT and telecommunications support.

Officially launched last night by Federal member for Dobell, Ken Ticehurst, the Centre will offer local small businesses a much-needed one-stop shop for a wide range of voice and IT hardware and communications services.

Independently owned and operated by business partners and long-term friends Mick Marcic and Alex Koutzoumis, the Centre will draw on their more than 35 years experience in the IT and telecommunications industry to provide local businesses with a single, personalised point of contact for all sales, consulting services and ongoing technical support.

“What drew us to the Commander Centre business model was that we knew we had the backing of a trusted and well known brand in Commander. With their support, we’re able to provide businesses across the Central Coast with cutting edge technology and technical expertise, while still being able to provide personal service at a local level, Mr Marcic said. “I’ve run many businesses in the past and so I understand how important local service is.

With the population of the Central Coast expected to increase by nearly 1 per cent per annum until the year 2021 (making it one of the highest population growth areas outside of Sydney’s outer ring), Central Coast locals and government officials alike are seeing the need for increased support in the small business sector.

“This is a time of rapid growth for the Central Coast region, which is why I’m so happy to be supporting this Commander Centre. The Centre fills a gap for much needed IT and telecommunications support for all of our local businesses, said Mr Ticehurst.

With five local staff members, the Centre’s new team includes ex-Commander staff who will draw upon their own knowledge of the region to cater to the precise needs of businesses operating within the Central Coast’s dynamic economy.

“The Central Coast is a highly competitive area, but we understand how much value there is in a ‘local for local’ business, which is what the Commander Centre offers, said Mr Koutzoumis. “We put a lot of thought into recruiting our staff and wanted to ensure that they were locals and could provide high-level technical advice to our customers.

Like all Commander Centres, the new Central Coast Commander Centre is fitted out in a ‘space age’ blue design and will benefit from the backup of Commander’s wide range of national support services.

Since the first Commander Centre was launched successfully in Launceston in 2004, Commander has been extending its franchise model by opening Commander Centres across the country. The Centres are designed to enhance the level of sales and support provided to small and medium-sized businesses and enterprises in key regional and metropolitan centres across Australia.
